When it comes to treats, a 4-foot-high, 45-pound chocolate Easter bunny goes a long way. Just ask members of two Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Clubhouses, who recently had the chance to learn that fact.

The milk chocolate bunny was made by Bruno’s Chocolate Creations, 2650 U.S. 1, Fort Pierce, and was the centerpiece of the store’s Easter display. Store owners Doug and Val Anderson promised that once Easter was over, the bunny would be donated to the members of the Boys and Girls Clubs, and that’s just what happened.

Once taken to the clubs, the bunny was carved into small pieces and placed in bags that were distributed to members at the Garden Terrace and Infinity clubhouses. In all, about 100 members enjoyed pieces of the bunny.

“I couldn’t believe it was real,” club member Luis said. “So cool.”

“This is a great example of the kind of thoughtful gift that helps brighten the day of our club members,” said William Armstead, chief executive officer. “We appreciate the willingness of the Andersons to become partners with the Boys and Girls Clubs.”

Bruno’s Chocolate Creations began its operation in Fort Pierce more than 52 years ago. It has been owned by the Andersons for more than 30 years and is known for chocolate made from secret Swiss recipes, award-winning truffles, fudge and sugar-free chocolates.
