“Far and away the best prize that life offers is to work hard at work worth doing.”

Every day hundreds of dedicated staff members of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County (BGCSLC) put on their monogrammed shirts and nametags ready to do whatever it takes to make a difference in the lives of thousands of the youth, tweens and teens served at their Clubs.

During a luncheon hosted by the St. Lucie County Human Resources Association Thursday, Oct. 28 at the MidFlorida Event Center, BGCSLC earned the ‘Best Places to Work’ moniker for the second year in a row as a mid-sized employer in the county.

The recognition is not a popularity contest for the recipients but more of an exponential math equation. Each organization with the ‘Best Places to Work’ designation answered a 40-question survey about their company regarding how to attract new employees and retain present ones. A total of 37 measurements about the organization’s insurance packages, employee professional development training, turnover, and growth percentages, and more are calculated for the final designation.

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County had applied unsuccessfully prior to earning the status as the ‘Best Places to Work’ in 2020. Working with the St. Lucie County Human Resources Association helped BGCSLC tweak several areas to make the Club even more attractive to new and present employees.

“Our county is experiencing a growth spurt which means so will our Clubs. To do whatever it takes to provide the best work atmosphere for our expanding staff is key to providing a quality service for the families we look after,” said Will Armstead, CEO of BGCSLC.
