ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Teens coming of age or joining Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County (BGCSLC) are getting in at a perfect time with great new opportunities preparing them for being workforce ready.

The recently formed ‘Amazin’ Mets Foundation, the philanthropic branch of the New York Mets brought their generosity from New York to Port St. Lucie to unveil a new specially wrapped Ford F-250 that will be used by BGCSLC teens to pull their ‘Learn & Earn’ food trailer.

“Our mission is simple: to be a champion, you need to stand for something,” said Alex Cohen, Mets Owner & President of Amazin’ Mets Foundation. “It’s beyond the words of the mission. It’s about the work we will do. We’re committed to inspiring philanthropy and community service by creating awareness, offering guidance, and leading by example to show the world what giving can do.”

The ‘Learn & Earn’ food truck will provide a strategic learning experience for the teens to understand culinary skills, kitchen cleanliness, inventory control, finance, profit margins, course customer service as well as earn money for themselves once they have completed their training.

“We couldn’t be more elated with our partnership with the Mets organization. They have truly stepped up to provide a path of learning with real-world benefits for our Club teens as summer job opportunities approach.” said Will Armstead, CEO of BGCSLC.https://youtu.be/ydYR4aaXF9g
