A “tee-rific” time in Atlanta

This is what we do!  …. Life-Enriching experiences for Club teens

Four of our Club teens had a “tee-rific” experience visiting Atlanta for the FedEx PGA Tour Championship. Thanks to golf coach Willie Scott’s organization – Building Opportunities Through Golf – they were part of a group of 40 local teens and chaperones that spent three days and nights in the Big Peach.

Our Club teens attended some of the Championship and also got up close with penguins at the Georgia Aquarium, sampled sodas from around the world at the Coca Cola headquarters, and ate at the world-famous Varsity Drive-In.

However, they all agreed their favorite place was the National Center for Civil & Human Rights https://www.civilandhumanrights.org/. In fact, they insisted on going a second time. “The Center was educational and inspiring – some of us even cried,” said 16-year-old Marina. “I never knew about all the activism and things like gender equality,” she added.

Giving teens unique experiences is what we do as part of our Life-Enriching Programs. For kids like 17-year-old Jefferson, this was an opportunity he never would have had if not for Boys & Girls Club. “This was the best trip ever! It’s the first time I’ve ever even left Florida. I would love to go back – maybe I could go to college there.”

This was Life-Enriching not only for our teens but for you and me and everyone in our community because we know positive experiences like this can change lives. Thank you and have a great rest of the week!
