For many, it’s hard to imagine that there are many children living in our community who have never been on a boat or learned how to fish.  That is the reason behind the 2nd Annual Fishing for Futures fishing tournament to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.

Rick Miller, an avid fisherman and President of TRM Construction Management decided it was time to create an opportunity for more kids to get a chance to fish.  He teamed up with DLF Media and Boys & Girls Clubs to create this unique tournament. Last year more than 50 Club kids were treated with a unique fishing experience, for many their first time, as part of the 2nd Annual Fishing for Futures Tournament.

“To see the smiles and listen to the children talk about their first boat ride or the first fish they have ever caught, was priceless,” stated Miller, who is working hard on the 2nd annual event.  “We have set August 31st as the date for this year’s 2nd Annual Fishing for Futures Tournament and hope the community comes out to support the kids.”

The one-day tournament will feature both inshore and offshore fishing with $12,000 in cash prizes including $5,000 for the largest fish caught. The tournament will be held at the Manatee Observation & Education Center in Ft. Pierce. All participating children fish for free and enjoy a free tour of the Manatee Observation & Education Center.

Fishing teams, sponsors and the community are encouraged to support this unique tournament and help provide the kids with a new experience.
