Florida Sports Hall of Fame 6th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic Raises $2,500 for Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County

FORT PIERCE, FL: The Florida Sports Hall of Fame proudly presented the 6th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on June 16 and 17, 2023, in Port St. Lucie, FL where sports icons, celebrities, and local community members came together for an unforgettable weekend of golf and philanthropy. Professional athletes Leroy Butler, Tom Coughlin, Vince Carter, and Ashlyn Harris headlined the event that raised $2,500 for Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.

To kick off the memorable weekend, attendees gathered at MidFlorida Event Center for the Legends VIP Reception and 2023 Hall of Fame Class Announcement. There, Boys & Girls Clubs teens greeted guests and mingled wide-eyed with the athletes, providing an unforgettable, life-enriching opportunity to the young Club members. This special gathering set the stage for an incredible weekend of camaraderie and community engagement.

The following day, participants teed off alongside celebrity golfers at PGA Golf Club. Former professional basketball player and ESPN basketball analyst Vince Carter joined the group of passionate Boys & Girls Clubs representatives, which included CEO Will Armstead, Workforce Readiness Director Sean Mitchell, and board members Charles Cuomo and Michael Lafreniere.

“Sharing the passion behind our Boys & Girls Clubs mission with these athletes was an incredible opportunity, and allowing our teen Club members to be a part of this weekend was truly life-enriching for everyone involved,” said Armstead.

The 6th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic achieved more than just a memorable experience on the golf course—it made a positive impact on the community. Through the collective efforts of the participants and generous sponsors, $2,500 was raised in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County. These funds will directly benefit the Club’s programs and initiatives, providing essential resources to empower and uplift local youth.

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County routinely works with community partners and local businesses to provide one-of-a-kind, life-enriching opportunities to their Club members. The generosity and support of partners such as the Treasure Coast Sports Commission and the Florida Sports Hall of Fame allow for a lasting impact on the lives of St. Lucie County’s youth, inspiring them to dream big and reach their full potential.
