The students visited Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Bethune Cookman University and the University of South Florida. The tour was made possible through the generosity of Joey Gambina, owner of Tutto Fresco Italian Restaurant, 9501 Reserve Blvd., Port St. Lucie

The tour made a strong impression on the students.

“Now that I’ve gone on the tour, I really want to go to college,” said Club member Daphney T., age 16. “This tour has helped me see that I have to work hard to succeed in life and that college is a great start.”

Programs such Career Launch, which includes college tours, are just one of the many ways that the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County help prepare young people for adulthood.

“These tours make such a difference in the lives of our students,” Howald said. “We’re grateful to Mr. Gambini for his support of the tour.”
