Boys & Girls Clubs Awards Luncheon Shines a Spotlight on Community Champions

FORT PIERCE, FL.: On Friday, June 30th, Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County hosted their annual Awards Luncheon at Tutto Fresco alongside local business owners, Board Members, Club volunteers, elected officials and community leaders. This prestigious event served as a platform to honor individuals who have shown unwavering dedication and passion for the youth in St. Lucie County.

A standout moment of the event was the virtual presence of Congressman Brian Mast, who had presented the prestigious 2023 Congressional Award to Joey Gambina for his exceptional contributions to the community and Boys & Girls Clubs. Adding to the event’s significance, Mia, a two-time Florida Youth of the Year winner, presented one of the 2023 Volunteer Awards to Barbara Strasdas for her exceptional mentorship and loyal support, truly embodying the spirit of volunteerism.

“Each of our award recipients have impacted the lives of so many young people in different ways, providing life-enriching opportunities for thousands of Club members,” said Boys & Girls Clubs o St. Lucie County CEO Will Armstead. “We are extremely grateful for these individuals for fueling our mission and giving youth the resources they need to succeed.” Throughout the luncheon, the following individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions:

  • Dana Trabulsy – 2023 Woman & Youth Award
  • Dawn Bloomfield – 2023 Woman & Youth Award

  • Larry Lee, Jr. – 2023 Man & Youth Award
  • Joey Gambina – 2023 Congressional Award
  • Taylor Hoskins – 2023 New Board Member Award
  • Cecilia James – 2023 New Board Member Award
  • Barbara Strasdas – 2023 Volunteer Award
  • Bob Kantor – 2023 Volunteer Award
  • Genia & Travis Leonard – 2023 Board Business Leaders of the Year Award
  • Sarah Pride – 2023 Board Member of the Year Award

The annual Boys & Girls Clubs Awards Luncheon served as a remarkable event to honor exceptional individuals who have shown exemplary commitment and passion for the youth of St. Lucie County.
