40th Annual Chili Cook-Off Set for October 22nd

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL: St. Lucie County’s longest-running event is returning to Clover Park, Spring Training home of the New York Mets, on Saturday, October 22nd. The 40th Annual Chili Cook-Off, presented by A&G Concrete Pools, Inc. benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, will feature live music, art displays, kids’ games, eating contests, and, new this year, a car show. And, of course, plenty of chili prepared and served by more than 30 teams representing local businesses, organizations, and government departments.

Chili Cook-Off Chair, Taylor Hoskins, attorney at Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd, announced this year’s Chili Cook-Off theme is Around the World.  “The Chili Teams are excited about decorating their booths and cooking chili to represent the country of their choice,” said Hoskins. “Everyone attending is going to enjoy seeing and tasting their creativity.”

Travis Leonard, A&G Concrete Pools CEO and partner, is a Chili Judge in addition to serving as the Chili Cook-Off Presenting Sponsor. “A&G Pools is excited to support this traditional community event that brings families together for a great time,” said Leonard.  He added that he’s looking forward to tasting 30 different chilis. His wife, Genia Leonard, a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs Board of Directors, is also a Chili Judge. “Of course, I’m thrilled that this event raises funds for life-enriching Boys & Girls Clubs programs for so many kids.”

Team registrations, vendor applications, and sponsorship information can be found at bgcofslc.org. Team and vendor spots are available, but limited. This year’s sponsors include A&G Concrete Pools, Inc., St. Lucie Draft House, SouthState Bank, Seacoast Bank, Hoskins Turco Lloyd & Loyd, Port St. Lucie Police Department, St. Lucie County Children’s Services Council, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lucie Mets, Pride Electric, and St. Lucie Voice.
